What’s Fresh?

Winter:  During most of the winter we have a variety of lettuces, and some spicy greens such as mustard, arugula, and mizuna.  We usually have some roots crops such as beets, carrots, turnips, and radishes, and Asian greens such as bok choi,  tot soy and senposai.  We sometimes have spinach, and parsley and we usually have Nappa cabbage, maybe some broccoli, kale and chard.

Summer:  Our summer crops include many varieties of tomatoes, squashes, peppers, and cucumbers.  Garlic and onions are harvested in June.  We continue to grow lettuces and leafy greens through out the summer.  Our fruit usually ripens in the late summer and includes a variety of plums, pears, apples, grapes, blackberries and raspberries.

Fall: Many of the summer crops continue to be available during the early part of the fall.  We still have salad greens, including lettuce, spicy greens such as mustard, arugula, and mizuna, and bitters such as endive and radicchio.  We usually have some roots crops such as beets, carrots, turnips, and radishes.  Fall is the season fro parsley, cilantro, cabbages,  kale, chard, and broccoli.  It is also the major harvest time for pears and apples.

Value-added products:  We produce dried pears and apples, a variety of fruit leathers, and numerous types of fruit preserves, pickles, pestos and apple and pear butter at our local farmers markets.

Salad Subscription Service

For those dedicated eaters of salad greens we have a subscription service where local residents can pre-pay for a weekly delivery of fresh salad greens.  Our signature salad greens include a range of red and green butters, incised, oak leaf and crisps with mustard and arugula greens.  Each subscription block runs for eight to twelve weeks.  Your salad greens can be picked up at the Willits Farmers Market or at a local pick-up site.  For more information or to sign up for the Salad Subscription contact Allegra at Farmers Market

Farmers Market

Green Uprising Farm sells our vegetables, fruits, and value-added products at the Willits Farmers Market every Thursday afternoon, rain or shine.  During the winter months the Willits Farmers Market takes place at the Little Lake Grange, 291 School Street from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. During the summer and fall months when we have more abundant amounts of produce, we sometimes also participate in the Farmers Markets in Redwood Valley, Laytonville and Ukiah.  For more information about Mendocino County Farmers Markets, visit the website of the Mendocino County Farmers Market Association, or McFarm at:   www.mcfarm.org

Roadside Farm Stand  (Closed during winter months)

We have a small roadside farm stand where we sell our produce during the summer and fall months.  We are usually too busy to provide personal service at the farm stand, but it has operated successfully as a self-service farm stand on the honor system.  And, if you have a question you can always track us down in the gardens or hoophouses.  We are proud to live in a community where the tradition of a self-serve farm stand is alive and functioning.  When the farm stand is open we post its hours of operation and let you know what is fresh and available.
